摘要: OBJECTIVE Report the successful use of stellate ganglion blocks (SGBs) in two patients experiencing symptoms post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). BACKGROUND Successful treatment PTSD with SGB has been reported previously. A similar protocol was employed at Walter Reed Army Medical Center to treat soldiers chronic, combat-related PTSD. METHODS Both received a on right side C6 level. The patients' were evaluated using Post-traumatic Stress Disorder Checklist (PCL). PCL administered day prior treatment, establish baseline, and after treatment. also utilized during follow-up visits quantify patient's symptomotology. by an anesthesiologist psychometric tests psychologist. RESULTS experienced immediate, significant durable relief as measured (score minimum 17, maximum 85). In both instances, pre-treatment score suggested diagnosis whereas post-treatment scores did not. One patient requested repeat 3 months, remained below cutoff 7 additional months follow-up. discontinued all antidepressant antipsychotic medications while maintaining their improved score. CONCLUSION Selective blockade level is safe minimally invasive procedure that may provide from symptoms, allowing discontinuation psychiatric medications. blacksquare, square, filled.
