摘要: Planar laser-induced fluorescence (PLIF) flowfield visualization has been used to investigate reaction control system (RCS) jet flows in the wake of hypersonic capsule reentry vehicles. Pitch, roll, and yaw RCS jets were all studied. PLIF was obtain off-body flow images at planar slices these flowfields, which are not easily visualized by other techniques owing characteristically low gas density. When viewed individually, shown provide spatially temporally resolved information, including locations characteristics turbulent structures location relative vehicle. In addition, ensembles slices, acquired multiple throughout flowfield, combined using computer reconstruct three-dimensional shape flow. Collectively, data set tests represents a valuable compliment surface measurements, especially as basis for explaining otherwise perplexing discrepancies between such measurements computational fluid dynamics (CFD) results.
