摘要: A continuum theory is employed for investigating the longitudinal optical (LO) modes in polar semiconductor heterostructures. Particular emphasis laid on symmetric double heterostructure (DHS) such as occurs a quantum well. The existence of two-dimensional (2D) bulk-type double-interface-type and guided-type LO examined this case their characteristic dispersion relations derived. It shown with reference to typical GaAs well that presence at most two double-interface finite number guided depends difference between squares limiting bulk frequencies materials. implications results light scattering experiments properties electrons confined wells are pointed out discussed.
