摘要: The lectin soybean agglutinin (SBA) from Glycine max binds to small-sized dorsal root ganglion cells and their central terminals in the superficial horn of spinal cord. Here we investigated ability SBA conjugated horseradish peroxidase(SBA-HRP) trace thin calibre afferents into cord a peripheral nerve. Following injection sciatic nerve, labelled were predominantly but some medium-sized also labelled. Colocalisation studies transported with various neuronal markers showed that all neurons SBA-HRP binding, indicating high uptake specificity for conjugate. 15% immunoreactive RT97 axons myelinated, 54% expressed binding sites isolectin B4 Griffonia simplicifolia, selective marker subpopulation unmyelinated afferents. With regard neurotransmitter content, 43% contained calcitonin gene-related peptide, 33% substance P 2.5% somatostatin. In addition, 3% carbonic anhydrase. Centrally, nerve resulted somatotopically appropriate regions laminae I–II horn, gracile nucleus. A few transneuronal transport had occurred. results show can be used as transganglionic tracer label fine primary project It appears more than B4, including myelinated
