摘要: BACKGROUND In haematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT), oral mucositis and xerostomia are related to conditioning-related oxidative stress. The role of salivary antioxidant enzymes in toxicity is poorly described. aim this study was verify the association between HCT. DESIGN Saliva from autologous allogeneic HCT patients (n = 77) selected before conditioning (T0), during neutropenia period (T1) after marrow engraftment (T2). Salivary flow, total proteins, superoxide dismutase, catalase glutathione reductase activities were measured. RESULTS There no significant differences proteins at three time points. Glutathione levels reduced T1 compared T0 (P = .013) T2 (P = .001). Superoxide dismutase increased (P = .013). Neither these associated with mucositis. Increased frequency. Levels enzyme also showed correlation days (ρ = .40, P = .002). CONCLUSIONS changed early periods increase suggested partial activation system xerostomia.
