摘要: Context: Sorghum, an ancient grain originating in Africa, may have health-protective properties that could encourage its consumption among those who do not traditionally consume it. Objective: The aim of this systematic review was to evaluate the health effects associated with sorghum humans. Data Sources: Academic databases were searched for relevant studies published between 1985 and November 2015. Study Selection: Nineteen –13 interventional 6 observational – identified inclusion. Extraction: Participant characteristics, study country, outcomes, main findings, quality reported. Interventional summarized separately. Results: Studies divided into investigated effect on chronic disease other health. There evidence attenuated blood glucose responses decreased expression markers oxidative stress. Sorghum also observed be a suitable ingredient formulation oral rehydration solutions showed potential use as medical adjunct boost immune HIV-positive patients . Conclusions: implication is attributes superior staple grains, indicating innovative uses commercial foods. More work required elucidate when consumed by population groups been traditional consumers grain.
