摘要: Epilepsy is the third most common chronic brain disorder, and characterized by an enduring predisposition to generate seizures. Despite progress in pharmacological surgical treatments of epilepsy, relatively little known about processes leading generation individual seizures, mechanisms whereby a healthy rendered epileptic. These gaps our knowledge hamper development better preventive cures for approximately 30% epilepsy cases that prove resistant current therapies. Here, we focus on rapidly growing body evidence supports involvement inflammatory mediators-released cells peripheral immune cells-in both origin seizures epileptogenic process. We first describe aspects inflammation immunity, before exploring from clinical experimental studies relationship between epilepsy. Subsequently, discuss how cause inflammation, whether such turn, influences occurrence severity seizure-related neuronal death. Further insight into complex role exacerbation should yield new molecular targets design antiepileptic drugs, which might not only inhibit symptoms this but also prevent or abrogate disease pathogenesis.
