摘要: Observational and experimental evidence has revealed the functional importance of microbial diversity. However, effects diversity loss on ecosystem functions are not consistent across studies, which probably tempered by redundancy, specific taxa evaluated. Here we conducted manipulation experiments in two independent soils with distinct prokaryotic communities, investigated how initial community traits (e.g., redundancy taxonomic composition) modulate contribution composition shift to eight related soil nutrient cycling. We found that impaired three (potential nitrification rate, N2 -fixation activity phosphatase) multifunctionality only communities low but all examined were unaffected high redundancy. All significantly affected belonged specialized functions, while broad function (soil basal respiration) was unaffected. Moreover, explained more variation than diversity, ascribed crucial role influence particular functions. Taken together, this study provides empirical for identifying mechanism underlying response changes community, implications improving prediction process models managing promote services.
