摘要: Purpose To describe key aspects of fungal infections the cornea, which constitute an important eye problem in outdoor workers tropical and subtropical regions. Methods Review published studies personal observations. Observations Fungal cornea are frequently caused by species Fusarium, Aspergillus, Curvularia, Candida. Trauma is most predisposing cause; ocular systemic defects prior application corticosteroids also risk factors. Culture remains cornerstone diagnosis; direct microscopic detection structures corneal scrapes or biopsies permits a rapid presumptive diagnosis. A variety antifungals have been evaluated therapy this condition. Natamycin can only be given topically, while amphotericin B, miconazole, ketoconazole, itraconazole, fluconazole administered various routes. Topical B (0.1-0.3%) treatment choice for due to Candida related fungi, topical natamycin (5%) keratitis filamentous fungi. Medical may fail, necessitating surgical intervention. Conclusions continue cause morbidity, particularly agricultural communities developing world. proper understanding agent host factors involved these will improve outcome
