摘要: Duodenoscopy in celiac disease has identified several markers of the disease. Our aim was to evaluate, a prospective study, usefulness different endoscopic features 100 consecutive cases referred endoscopy for intestinal biopsy. Histological examination duodenal samples showed severe villous atrophy (grade III/IV) 36 patients. Of these patients, 34 had suggestive These were reduction number or loss Kerkring's folds (in 27), mosaic pattern (14), scalloped (12), and visibility underlying blood vessels (5). Endoscopic visualization sensitivity 94%, specificity 92%, positive predictive value 84%. Reduction number, of, most sensitive (76%) specific (98%) single change indicating permitted diagnosis three four asymptomatic patients group 24 first-degree relatives We conclude that distal duodenum is indicator
