摘要: The time needed to compare two symbols increases as the cognitive distance between them on relevant dimension (symbolic effect). Furthermore, when subjects are told choose either larger or smaller of stimuli, response is shorter if instruction congruent with overall size stimuli (semantic congruity Three experiments were conducted determine locus these effects in terms a sequence processing stages. developmental aspects also evaluated, from kindergarten, first grade, third fifth and college. By varying visual quality stimulus each experiment, it was determined that effect resides comparison stage, whereas an encoding phenomenon. Both present at all grade levels, but they decreased magnitude increased. results interpreted relative recent models comparative judgments.
