摘要: Society is undergoing a major digital transformation affecting all areas of human activity. While the expected benefits this societal turn are many, use IoT technologies presents challenges and risks from viewpoint fundamental rights, such as privacy, that should not be underestimated. The legislative framework constantly adapting to address these emerging needs: in Europe, introduction General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) was milestone towards an enhanced citizens’ data protection. However, GDPR does have its limitations, both practical applicability grey areas, mostly related specific applications. Two case studies presented, namely on connected automated driving domestic social robots. Despite GDPR, mechanisms allowing citizens adequate control over their personal still place, advent likely increase challenges.
