摘要: Ceramic matrix composites fabricated using Nicalon fiber and several polysilsesquioxane-derived Si-C-O matrices were characterized by optical SEM in four-point bending. In the material linear shrinkages of up to 19 percent observed for vinylmethyl copolymer pyrolyzed 1200 C, 13 phenylmethyl same temperature, resulting considerable cracking. Under loading, most composite samples fractured a brittle manner as result strong fiber-matrix bonding. Flexural strengths, moduli, ultimate strain varied with sizing processing parameters. Testing analysis is being applied promote more fibrous pullout during fracture. 5 refs.
