Multichromophoric calix[4]arenes: Effect of interchromophore distances on linear and nonlinear optical properties

摘要: Multichromophoric calix[4]arenes with two or four disperse red one (DR1) moieties linked to the lower rim have been synthesized. The second-order nonlinear optical activity was measured by using electric-field-induced second-harmonic generation technique and there a nearly linear increase of μβ value number chromophores in molecule without affecting charge-transfer absorption wavelength. effect that DR1 units plays on hyperpolarizability, dipole moment, maxima has also studied quantum chemical calculations. It found it necessary synthesize multichromophores distant obtain large responses.
