摘要: Abstract Until a few years ago, Trichinella spiralis was the only taxon of genus detected in both domestic and wild animals South America. Recently, new genotype, named T12, identified cougars ( Puma concolor ) from Argentina, on basis molecular studies using mitochondrial nuclear ribosomal markers. In present study, cross-breeding experiments indicated that T12 is reproductively isolated all other encapsulated spp. suggested it biologically more similar to britovi murrelli than species/genotypes. Biological assays revealed reproductive capacity index ∼4 >2000 times lower those T. mice rats, respectively. The pigs ranged 0.0 0.05. Larvae parasitising muscles carnivores were infective after freezing at −5 °C for 3 months, but they lost infectivity −18 °C 1 week. region within rDNA, known as expansion segment V, showed unique sequence which differs spp./genotypes. biological, geographical data support classification genotype species widespread Neotropical region, we propose name patagoniensis n. sp.
