摘要: Compounding energy demand and environmental issues necessitate suitable alternative or partial replacement of fossil fuels. Among the possible sources, biodiesel from non-edible vegetable oil sources is more economically feasible possesses characteristics close to those petroleum diesel. Two potential feedstocks “Croton megalocarpus” “Ceiba pentandra” were used for production through esterification transesterification process on a laboratory scale. Biodiesel characterization, engine performance emission investigated in an unmodified direct injection, naturally aspirated, single-cylinder diesel engine. 20% (v/v) each C. megalocarpus (CM), pentandra (CP) their combined blends (CMB20, CPB20, CMB15CPB05, CMB10CPB10, CMB05CPB15) tested under varying speeds ranging 1000 rpm 2400 at full load conditions. CMB20 CPB20 reduced brake power (BP) by 2.63% 3.70%, thermal efficiency (BTE) 5.97% 3.72%, carbon monoxide (CO) 1.09% 2.39%, hydrocarbon (HC) 1.48% 4.62% smoke 12.35% 17.13%, respectively compared On other hand, increased specific fuel consumption (BSFC) 9.74% 7.63%, NOX 13.19% 15.45%, respectively. A mixture 10% both biodiesels with diesels (CMB10CPB10) provides better characteristics. CMB10CPB10 BP, BTE, CO, HC 0.53%, 0.50%, 5.21%, 8.38% 20.71%, BSFC 3.90% 18.66%, conventional blend CM CP could be sustainable substitute context emission.
