摘要: The enzymatic cleavage of dimethylsulfoniopropionate (DMSP) to dimethylsulfide (DMS) was investigated in twenty-one strains marine macro- and microalgae, representing seven algal classes. enzymes involved this are DMSP lyases, producing DMS from DMSP. All tested were able synthesize accumulate various levels intracellular but only twelve showed lyase activity. It possible identify subgroups strong weak producers. first subgroup included three Enteromorpha species (E. clathrata, E. intestinalis, compressa) Phaeocystis sp. with specific activities crude cell extracts ranging 7 over 100 nmol min-1 (mg protein)-1. second composed a sub-antarctic strain Acrosiphonia arcta, Polysiphonia lanosa, two Emiliania huxleyi, sonderi, Ulva lactuca bulbosa. In activity ranged 0.01 0.2 No detectable sub-arctic Monostroma arcticum, Prasiola crispa, urceolata, Ascoseira mirabilis, Laminaria saccharina Tetraselmis subcordiformis. Non-optimal assay conditions bacterial contamination may have affected rates some samples, the results suggest widespread presence among taxa, also raises possibility that closely-related quite different or function.
