摘要: Aims The incidence of diabetic cardiomyopathy, independent arterial hypertension (AH) and coronary heart disease (CHD), remains controversial. present study aimed to determine the influence type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) long duration (>10 years) on myocardial function estimated by echocardiography (ECHO) serum level N-terminal pro-B natriuretic peptide (NT-proBNP) in patients without CHD AH. We also retrospectively investigated relationship between structural changes hearts other deceased T1DM patients, had their echocardiographically assessed before death. Methods results In 185 (96 males) with (mean 22.8 105 non-diabetic control subjects (57 males), detailed ECHO parameters NT-proBNP were assessed. No significant differences found respective groups. Histological studies 17 carried out compared performed death. identified, although signs dysfunction prior death. Conclusion Even application echocardiographic, biochemical morphologic techniques hardly gives sufficient grounds believe that alone may actually precipitate dysfunction, despite long-term course typical histological myocardium.
