摘要: When glucose was present in high concentration, Candida albicans formed filaments a phosphate-buffered medium, regardless of the nitrogen source. In lower concentrations glucose, filamentation occurred only when various members glutamate, succinyl, or acetoacetyl-coenzyme A families amino acids were used as sole sources. Yeast morphology could be maintained either by replacing medium with ammonium chloride making phosphate biotin. Studies using [U-14C]proline indicated that proline catabolized manner consistent generation increased cellular reducing potential and label entered into Kreb9s cycle. reduction cycle activity evidenced an initial increase then rapid drop total organic acid content cells well specific intermediates. Filamentation under conditions low phosphate, potential, accompanied decrease activity, suggests morphogenesis C. is correlated Crabtree-like effect, i.e., repression mitochondrial activity.
