摘要: Abstract This paper presents the analysis of 14 years cloud-to-ground lightning activity observation in Colombia using location systems (LLS) data. The first Colombian LLS operated from 1997 to 2001. After a few years, this system was upgraded and new has been operating since 2007. Data obtained these two analyzed order obtain parameters used designing protection systems. flash detection efficiency estimated average peak current maps some theoretical results previously published. Lightning multiplicity evaluated stroke grouping algorithm resulting values about 1.0 1.6 for positive negative flashes respectively both LLS. time variation parameter changes slightly years considered study. shows median close 29 kA 17 kA networks showing great dependence on efficiency. percentage 74.04% 25.95% occurrence respectively. daily between 23 02 h. monthly exhibits bimodal behavior typical regions located near Equator. density dividing study area 3 × 3 km cells maximum 25 35 flashes km - 2  year - 1 each network A comparison with global hotspots performed good correlation. Besides, altitude an inverse relation variables.
