摘要: A novel toughening modifier, styrene–isoprene–butadiene rubber (SIBR), was used to improve the impact resistance and toughness of acrylonitrile–butadiene–styrene (ABS) resin via bulk polymerization. For comparison, two kinds ABS samples were prepared: ABS-1 toughened by a conventional modifier (a low-cis polybutadiene rubber/styrene–butadiene block copolymer), ABS-2 SIBR. The mechanical properties, microstructures as-prepared materials, fracture surface morphology specimens after studied instrumented notched Izod tests tensile tests, transmission electron microscopy, scanning respectively. test results show that had much higher strength elongation at break than ABS-1. microscopic suggested only depended on voids, shear yielding, few crazing, which resulted in less ductile behavior. Compared with ABS-1, linear random SIBR (ABS-2) displayed synergistic effect crazing could absorb dissipate massive energy, presented high These also confirmed tests. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
