摘要: Attempts to mimic synaptic delivery of acetylcholine (ACh) with brief, repetitive pulses high concentration ACh at synapses medial habenula (MHN) and interpeduncular nucleus (IPN) neurons in vitro elicited temporally distinct facilitation inhibition glutamate secretion via nicotinic muscarinic receptor-mediated pathways, respectively. ACh-induced was sustained for up 2 hr, whereas transient. Prolonged exposure nicotine inactivated receptors selectively, thus decreasing the relative contribution facilitatory versus inhibitory influences ACh. The net effect modulating glutamatergic transmission MHN–IPN may be determined by pre-exposure nicotine, because drug appears switch balance between actions
