摘要: This chapter provides a global network service provider’s view on the technology development and product commercialization of 100-Gb/s for optical transport networks. Optical channel capacity has been growing over past four decades to address traffic demand growth will continue this trend foreseeable future meet ever-increasing bandwidth requirements. In chapter, channels are re-classified into three basic design types. Commercial experienced all types designs before eventually settling single carrier PM-QPSK format with coherent detection, which appears be optimal in industry. A series related field trials were performed providers’ networks validate technical merits as well business advantages new standard its deployment. Introduction brings opportunities boost fiber capacity, accommodate increases client interface speed rates, lower transmission latency, simplify management, up realization next generation add/drop functions.
