摘要: The mode and mechanisms of plateau uplifts are reported, based on discussions which occurred as part a conference sponsored by the Inter-Union Commission Geodynamics Lunar Planetary Institute. Major plateaus high plains world discussed with emphasis Colorado Plateau, possesses shield-like crust 45 km thick occupies most eastern Utah parts Colorado, Arizona, New Mexico. Several uplift described, including thermal expansion due to deep mantle plume or hot spot, hydration reactions such serpentinization. It is concluded that commonly associated either subduction its direct effects, deep-seated disturbances.
