摘要: Abstract Mesophilic methane yield of ensiled switchgrass grown in Eastern Canada was assessed. Switchgrass harvested at three stages development, corresponding to mid-summer, late summer and early fall 2007. The regrowth plots mid-summer also as a two-cut strategy. Specific yields decreased significantly with crop maturity from 0.266 0.309 N L CH 4 g −1 VS 0.191–0.250 fall; values were similar for the first harvest July second (regrowth) October. Approximately 25% more produced by hectare strategy (2.90–3.44 × 10 6 ha ) compared one-cut (2.28–2.77 × 10 ). Methane under cool humid climate suggest that this remains an interesting renewable alternative energy source.
