摘要: Asmussen and Nielsen1 observed an abrupt reduction in ventilation when exercising subjects were given 100% oxygen to breathe. This response occurred more rapidly than the blood lactate so they postulated existence of unidentified factor, ‘anaerobic work substance’, which was released by working muscle stimulated carotid bodies. The speed ventilatory hyperoxia required them suppose that substance destroyed oxygen.
