摘要: Algal strains belonging to the Chlorococcales (Chlorophyceae) show significant differences in extent of staining with commonly used dye, crystalline violet. This seems depend on cell wall composition and occurrence acetolysis-resistant biopolymer algaenan algal cells.Eighteen were investigated using 24 h 0.2% violet it was confirmed that which did not contain had a trilaminar structure showed strong ability, while non-algaenan stained very weakly, if at all. The simple method presented here may be helpful distinguish both kinds strains.
