摘要: Multicellular magnetotactic prokaryotes (MMPs) are a group of microorganisms composed 10-40 Gram-negative cells. Currently, all the identified MMPs show spherical morphology and synthesize mainly iron sulfide magnetosomes. In this study, we report novel genus with peculiar ellipsoidal oxide magnetosomes, which were discovered in intertidal sediment Yellow Sea China. Optical fluorescence microscopy revealed that organism was similar to 10 x 8 mu m size 40 cells enveloped by an outer layer. Scanning electron showed arranged 4-6 interlaced circles. Bullet-shaped magnetite magnetosomes organized chains roughly parallel long axis when analysed transmission microscopy. These displayed special escape motility, i.e. swimming rapidly from edge centre droplet then slowly back edge. addition, they exhibited negative phototaxis. Light observations reproduced division along body axis. Both analysis 16S rRNA gene sequence situ hybridization as new Deltaproteobacteria. summary, exhibit unique morphology, process distinct phylogenetic affiliation compared other MMPs.
