摘要: Summary During an 11-month study of the Black-headed Duck in eastern Argentina, observations were made on marsh birds Cape San Antonio, Province Buenos Aires. These supplement distributional and life history obtained by Gibson (1879–1920), Wetmore (1926) others. The deep, fresh-water marshes characteristically are dominated one three plants: tules, cutgrass or cat-tails. There surprisingly few with mixtures these plants which showed a gradual transition from to uplands. Marsh considerable adaptation chronology nesting nest-site selection for seasonal water cycle wet springs dry periods late summer fall. Some involved over longer period than is usual Northern Hemisphere marshes. As seems characteristic all birds, cover-water edges sites nests. only species restricted selection, competition between closely related was noted among coots. A list area given, comments presented ecology behaviour selected species.
