摘要: Objective This systematic review aimed to summarise the best available evidence relating prevention and management of complications associated with established percutaneous gastrostomy tubes in adults. Inclusion criteria This considered studies investigating effectiveness strategies prevent and/or manage (PEG) adults where care was provided hospital, aged or community setting. Complications included PEG stoma site infection, occlusion, excoriation inadvertent removal. Search strategy The search strategy find published unpublished limited reports English language. Reference lists that met inclusion criteria were searched for additional studies. Company representatives also contacted information about ongoing Methodological quality Study selected retrieval assessed by two independent reviewers methodological quality prior using a critical appraisal instrument developed specifically this review. Results There 40 Thirty-five excluded after appraisal. The five remaining contained regarding occlusion There no include addressed at site. Reported regular follow-up, provision pre discharge instructions programmed tube changes. Strategies reported infection local antibiotic therapy, skin intravenous therapy. interventions use enzymes, guidewires, flushing, replacement only intervention removal replacement. Conclusion The research is sparse potentially poor quality. Interventions are often poorly described few comparative published.
