摘要: Four pregnant, primiparous, crossbred gilts and six from the same population that had been ovariectomized (OVX) for approximately 3 wk were placed in individual pens an enclosed building. Blood samples collected every 30 min 12 h all via indwelling jugular vein cannula when pregnant at d 30, 50, 70, 90, 110 of gestation. Serum was quantified LH prolactin (PRL) by RIA. The OVX served as controls to ensure any variations serum PRL concentrations observed animals not due environmental factors unrelated pregnancy. Within gilts, mean concentrations, basal concentration, peak height similar on days; however, number peaks 70 greater (P < .05) than 90 110, 50 70. .001) other among days. Parameters secretion varied independently. Results this study indicated 1) does vary appreciably throughout pregnancy 2) significantly during first pregnancy, after which it increases markedly or before d.
