Administrative Governance and Frontline Officers in the Chinese Prison System During the COVID-19 Pandemic.

摘要: The spread of COVID-19 put prisons across the globe into an emergency state where extraordinary reactions and measures have been taken. Prison governance management under such circumstances facilitated revelation existing mechanisms control. Focusing on experience frontline officers, this paper explores how Chinese prison system contained inside its walls by demanding officers work 'lockdown shifts', what we can learn about governing logic. Multi-sourced data is utilized, including government-issued policies reports, media blog posts written participant observation as well semi-structured interviews with officers. This study offers a diachronic analysis pandemic control within system, focusing key turning points. By examining officers' accounts through first- second-hand data, execution they affect individual lives. found that were ordered to fight at forefront in working shifts for extended indefinite period time, which proved effective terminating virus, but placed heavy burden personal lives findings also reveal new facets mobility While terms statistics demonstrated, less adjusting needs staff acknowledging sacrifices demanded made process.
