摘要: Background: Thermal management of the very low-birthweight (VLBW) infant is a cornerstone neonatology because thermal stress an important determinant survival. This prospective study was designed to determine effects polyethylene occlusive skin wrapping on heat loss in VLBW infants admitted neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) promptly after birth. Methods: Thirty consecutively inborn weighing <1500 g were allocated wrap or non-wrap group within incubator admission NICU. Axillary and temperatures taken arrival at 1 2 h. Results: Infants reached normal axillary temperature faster then required lower temperatures. Conclusions: Polyethylene film effectively helps correct hypothermia
