摘要: Although proteoglycans constitute a minor component of vascular tissue, these molecules have been shown to influence number arterial properties such as viscoelasticity, permeability, lipid metabolism, hemostasis, and thrombosis. A hallmark early late atherosclerosis is the accumulation in intimal lesions. Yet, it not clear why this occurs. This article reviews classes synthesized by two major cell types wall--the endothelial smooth muscle cell. Detailed consideration then given modulation proteoglycan metabolism role that play cellular events adhesion, migration, proliferation--important processes both development pathogenesis blood vessels. Last, involvement critical wall processes--hemostasis metabolism--is reviewed, because pertain atherogenesis. review emphasizes importance regulating several key normal pathophysiological tissue.
