Toward Rapid and Well-Controlled Ambient Temperature RAFT Polymerization under UV−Vis Radiation: Effect of Radiation Wave Range

摘要: The effect of radiation wave range on living behavior ambient temperature reversible addition fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) radical polymerization mediated by either trithiocarbonates or dithioesters agents (CTAs) was investigated using UV−vis sources with various ranges. results indicate that CTAs are strongly sensitive to the UV around their characteristic absorption wavelength, leading significant decomposition CTA moieties in duration RAFT polymerization, undermining character polymerization. Cutting off these CTA-sensitive short-wave radiations significantly improves polymerizations. Addition highly efficient photoinitiator and optimizing functional groups remarkably suppress retardation process, thus shortening initialization period accelerating overall process.
