Assessing foods offered in the Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR) using the Healthy Eating Index 2010

摘要: Objective To assess the nutritional quality of food packages offered in Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR) using Healthy Eating Index 2010 (HEI-2010). Design Data were collected from list products provided by US Department Agriculture’s and Nutrition Handbook 501 for FDPIR. Nutritional was measured through a cross-sectional analysis five randomly selected HEI-2010 component total scores calculated each package. ANOVA t tests assessed significant differences between maximum scores, respectively. Setting This study took place USA. Subjects Study units included Results The mean score combined FDPIR significantly lower than 100 (66·38 (sd 11·60); P<0·01). Mean fruit (3·52 0·73); P<0·05), vegetables (2·58 0·15); P<0·001), greens beans (0·92 1·00); dairy (5·12 0·63); protein foods (4·14 0·56); P<0·05) refined grains (3·04 2·90); P<0·001) all values. Conclusions package notably higher other federal assistance nutrition programmes. findings highlight opportunities to modify its offerings best support lifestyles towards prevention diet-related chronic disease.
