摘要: Abstract: 249 words Objective: To assess prevalence of, and factors associated with tobacco smoking dependence in HIV patients. Design: A one-day cross-sectional national survey. Methods: 727 consecutive outpatients from a representative sample of 82 French units specialized HIV-infected patient care were asked to complete self-administered questionnaire, assessing habits, dependence, cessation motivation, other substance abuse, socio-cultural characteristics , life its treatment. Smoking assessed compared the general population; f actors determined. Results: 593 (82%) patients completed questionna ire, 12% activ e or ex-intravenous drug users, 37% homosexual men; 43% active smokers (31% population). Fifty-six percent classified as m oderately highly dependent, 14% motivated free abuse depressive symptoms. was independently associ ated male sex (OR=2.38; 95% CI: 0.99-1.11), BMI (OR=1.08; 1.14-1.03), sm oking environment (OR=4.75; 3.02-7.49), excessive alcohol consumption (OR=2.50; 1.20-5.23), illicit use (OR=2.43; 1.41-4.19), status disclosure family (OR=1.81; 1.16-2.85) experience rejection due (OR= 1.90; 1.14-3.17). Disclosure substitutes usage high dependence. Conclusions: Tobacco is frequent disclosure.
