The Role of School Leaders’ Health Literacy for the Implementation of Health Promoting Schools

摘要: Background: The promotion of health literacy is seen as an urgent goal in public and education and, hence, should be integrated the school context a component holistic promoting (HPS) approach. However, only limited empirical studies have addressed staff so far. Hence, this study aimed to examine level among leaders its association with extent HPS implementation. Methods: A cross-sectional n = 680 principals members management board from Germany was carried out at end 2018. Individual literacy, attitudes, competencies towards occupational self-efficacy served independent variables implementation dependent variable. Data were analyzed using univariate bivariate analysis well multiple binary logistic regression. Results: 29.3% show significantly higher values found for male respondents. Regression analyses revealed that gender (OR: 1.91, 95% CI: 1.22–2.99), attitudes 3.17, 2.13–4.72), 3.66, 2.43–5.50) associated lower Furthermore, regression differentiated by showed low 2.81, 1.22–6.45). Conclusions: especially would not result positive effects on individual but also could contribute stronger activities promotion. We suggest integrating more strongly into qualification further training leaders.
