摘要: We and other investigators have postulated deterioration of essential choroid plexus (CP) functions in some elderly especially Alzheimer’s disease patients based on apparent anatomical, histological pathological changes CP. termed this putative phenomenon CP failure. By focusing four energy-requiring functions, specifically ascorbic acid (AA) folate transport from blood into CSF, transthyretin synthesis secretion electrolyte/acid–base balance we were able to evaluate the hypothesis failure by reviewing definitive human data. In both healthy patients, normally AA folates actively synthesize secrete maintain CSF acid–base ion concentrations. These compositional data provide no support for notion humans patients.
