Applying Public Trust Thinking to Wildlife Governance in the United States: Challenges and Potential Solutions

摘要: ABSTRACTPublic trust thinking (PTT) promises to inspire ecologically and socially responsible wildlife governance in the United States, but its application is not straightforward. We describe eight broad challenges comprehensive of PTT including: increasing authority capacity; overcoming resistance change; achieving fair consideration all public interests; facilitating participation; fulfilling commitments future generations. discuss potential solutions distributing responsibilities for conservation among governmental nongovernmental entities; adopting an expansive definition “wildlife;” promoting inclusive interpretation professionals; rejuvenating relationships between agencies; participation accountability decision-making processes.
