摘要: Abstract 1. Analysis of individual PCB-isomers and congeners in extracts adipose tissue from N = 12 razorbills suggested that 4-chlorobiphenyl was subjected to metabolism. 2. In vitro metabolism studies using [ 14 C]-4-chlorobiphenyl as substrate showed metabolise this C]4-chloro-4'-hydroxybiphenyl at an average rate 20 pmol mg microsomal protein/min. For comparison, the by pigeons rats also studied, rates formation C]-4-chloro-4'-hydroxybiphenyl protein min 342 were estimated. 3. A comparison hepatic drug metabolising enzyme system similar concentrations cytochrome P-450, b 5 comparable catalytic activies P-450-dependent monooxygenase, when assessed for HHDN epoxidase, PROD, EROD Phase II enzymes glutathiones- S -transferase, but significantly lower, compared with rats. The results obtained suggest fundamental differences activities P-450dependent monooxygenase between avian mammalian species. 4. present study, however, provides evidence fish-eating seabirds have ability metabolically dispose certain PCB isomers congeners, which are amongst most ubiquitously distributed pollutants ecosystem.
