摘要: This paper explores the contribution of institutional perspective in understanding firm innovation returns from international alliances. It argues that formal and informal national institutions are different nature, give rise to explicit tacit differences respectively between alliance partners. Partners exhibit attitudes abilities negotiate address such leveraging potential As a result, we expect have distinct effects on partners' performance: a) effect is approximating sigmoid (S-shaped), with performance slightly increasing first, then improving further finally reaching flattening plateau as difference partners increase; b) resembles an inverted U. Support provided for both our contentions longitudinal sample 110 UK biopharmaceutical firms. The contributes existing alliances, broadly, management internationalization portfolios.
