Topical NSAID Therapy for Musculoskeletal Pain

摘要: Objective.  Systematic reviews previously reported in the literature document that topical nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are effective relieving pain acute and chronic painful musculoskeletal disorders including osteoarthritis, tendonitis, muscle strains. Because several NSAIDs available, with important differences among formulations, there is a need to address summarize evidence of their effectiveness safety. Design.  We searched Medline Cochrane CENTRAL databases for clinical trials systematic pain, using following keywords: “NSAID,”“nonsteroidal,”“anti-inflammatory,”“topical,”“cream,”“gel,”“solution,”“lotion,”“patch,” plaster,”“musculoskeletal,”“tendonitis,”“strain,”“sprain,”“trauma,” word roots “pain” “arthritis.” Conclusions.  Topical may vary significantly absorption kinetics pharmacodynamic effects, based on NSAID molecule formulation chosen. Some formulations have been shown be more than placebo multiple studies, or comparable efficacy better safety profile oral single joint osteoarthritis injuries. In low back widespread peripheral neuropathic syndromes, current does not support use NSAIDs.
