摘要: We isolated mutations that reduce plasmid stability in dividing cell populations and mapped these to a previously undescribed gene, recD, affects recombination frequency consequently the formation of concatemers. Insertions transposable element Tn10 into recD resulted increased concatemerization loss pSC101 ColE1-like replicons during nonselective growth. Both concatemer instability mutants require functional recA gene. Mutations are recessive recD+ map small region Escherichia coli chromosome located between recB argA. Although locus is distinct from loci encoding two identified subunits RecBC enzyme, appear affect exonuclease activity this enzyme.
