摘要: Objectives: To determine: (1) the incidence of iridocapsular and iridophakic adhesions following ‘can-opener' capsulotomy cataract extraction (2) whether routine postoperative dilation alters or affects ultimate pupil shape dilation. Study Design: Retrospective study. Setting: Ophthalmic out-patient department, Princess Alexandra Eye Pavilion, Royal Infirmary Edinburgh. Patients: All patients seen in clinic over a 3-month period who had previously undergone uncomplicated whose eyes were now quiet. Main Outcome Measures: Incidence iridocapsular/iridophakic adhesions, response to mydriatics. Also, mydriatics used postoperatively. Results: Adhesions occurred 29% more common those treated with postoperatively (0.01 > P 0.001). Pupil distortion was also this group (0.02 0.01), but subsequent pupillary did not appear be affected by mydriatic treatment. Conclusions: Iridocapsular occur significant number extracapsular extraction. However, they relatively benign. The use is unnecessary.
