摘要: Purpose Macular telangiectasia type 2 (MacTel) is a bilateral neurodegenerative disorder of the central macula. Previous findings indicated more functional impairment in low light conditions. We sought to further characterize retinal dysfunction using dark-adapted two-color fundus-controlled perimetry ("scotopic microperimetry"). Methods Participants MacTel Natural History Observation Registry study and age-matched healthy controls underwent imaging including dual wavelength autofluorescence macular pigment optical density (MPOD) measurement. Retinal sensitivity was assessed with scotopic microperimetry cyan (505 nm) red (627 nm). Disease graded into classes MPOD loss (0 3). For analysis, differences mean sensitivities (MacTel minus controls) were compared at each test location results aggregated global indices. Results Thirty-four eyes (19 patients, age 62.2 years) 25 (25 controls, 61.5 years). Both lower MacTel. This pronounced one- three-degree eccentricity. Eyes class 0 did not exhibit deficit. Class 1 had impaired cyan, but normal sensitivity. 3 behaved similarly relatively higher impairment. Conclusions Rods might be compromised greater extent than cones. Linking previous studies, our also hint toward (postreceptoral) cone system very early disease stages. indices seemed reflect useful as adjunct measures for progression.
