摘要: There are two separate, and presumably opposing, processes that affect colony odor in the desert ant Cataglyphis niger: (1) biosynthesis turnover of these chemicals by individual ants, (2) homogenization through exchange cues. The first increases signal variability; latter decreases it. impact factors was tested splitting colonies monitoring profile changes occurring postpharyngeal glands (PPG) cuticular hydrocarbons.
