摘要: Two new members of the Sakhalin serogroup were identified by complement-fixation tests. Avalon (prototype CanAr 173) was isolated from 3 lots Ixodes uriae and blood a Herring Gull ( Larus argentatus ) chick collected in Common Puffin Fratercula arctica colony on Great Island, Newfoundland, Canada. Clo Mor ScotAr 7) recovered pool I. Murre Uria aalge at Mor, Cape Wrath, Scotland. Both viruses are sensitive to lipid solvents, resistant acidic pH, do not hemagglutinate goose erythrocytes. Biological characteristics both selected laboratory animals various inoculation routes reported. Viremia demonstrated suckling mice inoculated peripheral with but Avalon, virus; viremia detected weanling or baby chicks. Neither virus replicated Aedes aegvpti, Culex pipiens quinquefasciatus , Anopheles quadrimaculatus following intrathoracic inoculation. Neutralizing antibody L. argentatus, F. Oceanodroma leucorhoa Island. Antigenic, physicochemical, ecological properties discussed.
