摘要: Rodents are well established at port areas and their ectoparasite can be vectors of many diseases. Ships seaport play an important role in spreading disease by transporting infected vectors. Plague, murine typhus, salmonellosis, trichinosis, leptospirosis rat bite fever known to spread rats. In view the seriousness problem present study was undertaken assess prevalence rodent – association Kolkata Port Trust, (India). A total 442 traps were laid 17 rodents including two species Bandicota indica Rattus rattus collected with 3.8 trap positivity rate. Infestation rate ectoprasites 76.5%. Mites 86.6% predominant ectoparisite retrieved from followed fleas lice. The index 13.6 per rat. 78 vector larval trombiculide mite chigger ( Leptotrombidium deliense ) 123 mesostigmatid mites Laelaps sp.) collected. Chigger infestation found 11.1 rat.  Passenger terminal only site where no could retrieved.  26 giving overall flea as 1.53. Xenopsylla cheopis Ctenocephalides felis . Serological examination serum non- reactive for Orentia (Scrub typhus) plague antibodies. Bacteriological investigation organs impression smear tissue showed bacilli activity isolation Yersinia pestis. Result suggests routine surveillance arthropods apply appropriate control methods controlling transmission borne
