摘要: We have investigated the orbital states of orbital-glassy (short-range ordered) spinel vanadate ${\mathrm{Co}}_{1.21}{\mathrm{V}}_{1.79}{\mathrm{O}}_{4}$ using x-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS), magnetic circular dichroism (XMCD), and subsequent configuration-interaction cluster-model calculation. From sign XMCD spectra, it was found that spin moment Co ion is aligned parallel to applied field V antiparallel it, consistent with neutron scattering studies. It revealed excess ions at octahedral site take trivalent low-spin state induce a random potential sublattice. The small, suggesting ordered orbitals mainly consist real-number orbitals.
